How the firm grew
Each part of the practice grew out of what our clients needed next, which is why the same team can follow a business from its first trademark to its contracts and, when something goes wrong, its disputes.

Where we started
Intellectual property
The firm was founded as an intellectual property practice, registering and protecting trademarks for businesses. IP remains at the heart of our work, and we now handle trademark registration, licensing, assignment and anti-counterfeiting across the MENA region and Asia, often for corporate IP teams based in Japan, Europe and the United States.

As our clients grew, so did the work we did for them. Corporate and commercial advice is now the core of the firm, from setting up a company and drafting or reviewing contracts to annual legal retainers that support a business in its day-to-day functioning.

When things go wrong
Disputes and litigation
Disputes are usually resolved through litigation or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) such as arbitration and mediation. Our own team handles cases at Dubai’s Rental Dispute Centre, and court hearings are attended together with our UAE National Advocates and Associates.

Corporate, commercial and disputes
We advise on company matters, contracts and disputes in the UAE and India. Where a judgment needs to be enforced, UAE judgments can be enforced in India, which has recognised the UAE as a reciprocating territory since January 2020.
The MENA region and Asia
Intellectual property
We register, license and enforce trademarks across the MENA region and Asia, so a brand can be protected in the markets where it trades and acted on quickly when it is copied.

Fees agreed in writing
You receive a written fee quote before each stage of work, whether that is a single contract, an annual retainer or a dispute, so the cost is clear from the start.
Settlement first, court when needed
Most disputes are cheaper and faster to settle, so we look for a negotiated outcome first and recommend litigation or arbitration only when it is the better route.
Documents you can understand
Documents can be translated by court-approved legal translators, and in a bilingual contract we make sure you know that the Arabic version prevails before the local courts.
